Hi all, recently my E60 sensor indicate an alarm during my driving on highway, "Insufficient brake fluid, bla bla bla". What could be the factor? After a while, the alarm disappear. My brake pad sensor shows to replace in 3200km, is it still can use until it become 0? Or need to replace at few hundreds km?

3200KM is really a bit too low and time for a change :) You don't have to wait for it to become 0KM and as for the brake fluid, I'm not sure.

as the brake pads wear, the brake fluid level will drop to take up the space of the thinning pads.
check the physical thickness of the brake pads.if there are a lot of meat left, top up up the brake fluid.or to save the hassle, change the brake pads and call it a day.
the brake fluid needs to replaced annually.if you have not done so,do it at the same time.

Thanks for the info, if 3200 is low, so what could be the ideal distance to replace brake pads? ( front & rear)

Messages are just an indicator to you to change, just in case you forget. You should change when you feel something not right with your braking system or some "eeee" sound from your brakes. Don't play-play with brakes. Like I always say, any dumb nut car can go fast.... it's stopping safely that's the most important.

I myself felt my brakes were getting soft. So when went in for regular service recently, had mech change the brake pads and brake fluid too. Now feels much tighter! :)

I just changed my front break pads, at RM 310 (textar), changed break fluid too. all in is RM 550.00 is the price ok?

Well done but how many liters of brake fluid did you use? Textar pads should be around RM180 + sensor RM50 + labor RM50 so should be RM280 range. RM550 - RM280 = RM270 for brake fluids only? That's quite expensive because even original BMW 1l brake fluid, it's only RM50 and I don't think you use up to 5 liters?

Brake pad that fellow charge me RM 310. labour RM 120. i think the balance is the break fluid RM120. So total is RM 550.00. Kena potong leher already.

The brake fluid cost come out to about RM80, labor, reset, test, and bla2, RM90 labor for releasing the fluid from all 4 brake caliper, then bleed 1 by 1, RM30 here, RM50 there and ++.. when bleeding, it's a 2 person's job..

When finish, they wash and vacuum your car bling2 and you are treated with cheese cake and cappucino.. plus any related issue they allow u unlimited visit until settle.. I paid them to do mine too, just to update my record with Ingress.. absolute peace of mind..

My worry is if I do outside, if ABS pump kaput.. cry also no tears oh!

I couldn't recall the actual cost but for brake fluid change alone.. I think less than RM200 la, about RM180.. I super kaim siap also, if more than that also I probably do outside.. :p

Where is the shop and what's the name? If you went to AB then it would probably cost that much :) if you did it outside with normal mechanic the RM550 is indeed Potong leher, lol

True enough and I understand what you mean :) brake fluid release/bleed is a straight forward thing and an experienced mechanic that deals with BMW should be able to do it easily. Of course if your car is under warranty then maybe it's not a good idea to do outside AB/Ingress.

If under warranty, sure under BSRI and BSRI covers the brake fluid as well. They did once under BSRI for my brake fluid at 30k and the 2nd job I had to pay because BSRI expired despite 54k km.. Should be around RM180 la.. engine also they washed.. :p

They have high overhead too.. give and take la.. :4:

Haha, excellent service for sure :) do you still prefer to go back to Ingress for normal servicing, etc even after BSRI? Mine is AP recond so I always go elsewhere to service and replace parts. Best of all, the mechanic used to work in AB so he knows what he's doing.

Oil change and break pad change I do in my car porch... outside mechanic can touch my money.. :p

You must be staying in a big house. Can I borrow your place to do oil change and BBQ next time? Hahahaha

No choice, cos i trust this fellow, but he potong my leher, not the first time already. I change my front absorber B-4 at RM 2,000.00, really fxxk up already...

Zzz. Where is this place? Maybe we can introduce you to a more reasonable workshop :)

Hi bro aoch88, the workshop at usj 15 near to digital mall. But I stay at Puchong, any workshop near Puchong with experience mechanic with reasonable price to recommend?
I ask him quote for my door rubber sealed at driver side, he quoted me at RM310.00, and could be excluding labour too, what do you think? Any comment?

If you're talking about part number 4 (window seal, door seam) then I can tell you the price for the part is only RM200 :) The rest on what you're paying is the labor so you decide if it's worth it.
