First of all, diesel engines are based on Rudolph Diesel gas cycle. That means it is a compression engine, and there is no spark plugs. Mixture of diesel mist and air is compressed to high pressure where the mixture becomes hot and ignite by itself! As a result, there is plenty of torque generated...and the diesel clatter which is actually the sound of the mini explosion! When pushed hard, it does move pretty fast. Try one for yourself and judge the performance, you will be pleasantly surprise with the drivability :) Generally, diesel engines have a lower rev limit (compression engine) and less revvy compared to a petrol engine. That being said, the modern diesel are not far behind petrol engines in terms of fun factor, well diesel engines have won the last few 24 hours LeMans races! Cheers
