lost key or just need another key?
I assume this is the newer type of key with the immobiliser built-in, judging from the pic on your avatar.
1. Make a police report. Bring along your registration card. tell them you need to order a new key
2. Go to any BMW auth dealer and bring along the police report and the reg card. Order from them
3. Takes about two weeks for key to arrive. Diamond key is about RM700-RM800/ea
4. Once received, you can pair the key yourself or get a BMW workshop to do it for you. Search in this forum on how to pair it. I posted on this previously.

It depends on what type of key you need..
For key without immobilzer, you can cut-it at any locksmith.. less than RM70 but without the LED light.
With immobilizer, you have to made police report.. This is for security reasons.. How would you like if somebody make a duplicate key of your UDM and drive it away..

The locksmith is correct. They can duplicate a car key based on the old key pattern but they cannot duplicate the immobilizer. The immobilizer transponer in the key send a signal to the controller by proximity. i.e. key insert in or place near it.
That is why you can open your door and turn on the ignition with a duplicate key but you cannot start the car. If you stick the old key near the ignition key, then you are basically bypass the immobilizer and hence rendered your car security.
My experience same as Fuad4. No need to make police report to order key from AB. Mine not AB car (UK import) so was advised I need to register car with AB at glenmarie. Bring photocopy car registration card and IC. After that can order key from any AB branch. The key for my e46 is with immobiliser. I'm pretty sure it's done in Malaysia - somewhere in Johor I think. The part I don't understand is when I ordered an e34 blank from AB, it came in a package from BMW germany...
