Hi Juggernaut.. when did u purchase the car ? Which auto bavaria branch did u order the car from ? Well if its from auto bavaria and with all the waranties then its a good buy. As for naza, then haven't got back to me on the final price. I am expecting at least a RM30000 discount. If its not then I will go for the exlcusive model or sports edition. Need to test drive first before deciding on the sports or exclusive. Do you anywhere else they are selling a 330i ? I was also offered the 325 SMG model from naza. However I heard that SMG got lots of problems. Can anyone clarify this.
Hi, Just a comment on your question on problems with SMG - I havent gotten any problems with mine -which is an AB car of course, a late 2002 car. You just have to accept that they are manual cars and not autos.

So They are raw to drive...you can hear transmission whine, etc, just like manuals do. But their acceleration is neck-sapping fast! Some people cant deal with this well, so they cant live with it, so they end up trading in and getting an auto. In the end, its up to your taste...

Anyhow, before you purchase any one, test drive all the various models...325, 330 etc etc..and make your call.

Shahnaz, what problem you've heard with the 325SMG? I bought mine in November 2002. Now, the mileage is about 37k km. So far no problem apart from normal routine service. Already change the front and rear brake pad and 2 times oil change/service.

Most people that would say it is a difficult car to drive because manual without clutch paddle. You need time to drive it properly. After that no problem even during traffic jam except when you have to stop on the hill when you'll need to play a bit with the handbrake to prevent roll-back as in normal manual g/box car. Once you have master and 'understand' the car you will really enjoy it.

FYI, I've put an order for e90 330i but after driving my SMG for few days instead of the other car I have cancelled the booking. Was worried that I'm going to miss the joy of driving it. So I decided to wait for the e90 SMG or test drive the e90 330i before I decide to change.

I was informed that some batches of the CKD 325i SMG came with auto box final drives which caused the car to be really jerky.. AB fixed the problem for these owners but kept the issue hushed. Anyone can confirm this?

The cruise mode in the SMG is a bit jerky because of the time lag to change the gear. Someone mention last time that there is a software upgrade for it. However I can tell you that once you have master the paddle-shift that won't be a problem anymore because 99% of the time you won't use the cruise mode. I've not use the cruise mode for a longgggg time now.

The jerk in manual and sport mode depends on your expertise and understanding the behaviour of the car. If you have master it then it won't be a problem anymore.

gud call..!! some people even reported problems with the 6-speed step on the e90..

p/s: m5 and m3 csl only comes with smg, it shows how serious n confident bmw is with their clutchless manual trans.. can expect e90 getting smg3 or smg2 at least..

ditto.. excellent review..

after much testing ... i finally decided to get a 325 SE from auto bavaria. It was good offer. I also took a test drive of the 330iA and 325 SMG at Naza. The specs for the BMW indivual for the 330iA only had ASC and did not have the harmon kardon system. As for the SMG it was the full spec with the harmon kardon sound system. It was really fun to drive the smg though. But for the 330IA, i was a bit dissapointed. I felt that the car was really heavy and did not have the grunt that i expected. I also the tested the 330iA at Auto Bavaria. There also I had the same feeling. But the 330iA at auto bavaria was the latest spec and had all the goodies and loaded with the harmon kardon sound system. However the guys at auto bavaria told me that the car has been idle for a long time and its needs some driving for it to reach its full power. After that I decided to test the 325i Sport Edition. I found the car very powerful and really fun to drive. Finally i did what I had to .... thanks for all the tips guys. Does anyone know where i can install the harmon kardon sound system together with the display unit that comes with the 330iA ? Thanks

E46 330i churns out 231 bhp and costs about 280k.
E90 325 churns out about 225 hp - not sure about the cost but probablya bit over 300k.
Would it not make more sense to get the E90 325 as the value will hold much better ?

Congrats on the buy.. The HK upgrade can be done at AB. Its in their accessory price list. If I remember it'll cost about RM6k for the upgrade.

As for the DVD/SAT Nav display, the wiring harness has to be changed completely to support it. Can't be done without a major re-wiring job from what I heard.

Mind to share how much did AB and Naza asking for the 330iA and 325SMG?

I was kind of interested at the 330iA of AB SgBesi last 2 days during the used car fair, but the ppl attended to me was kind of lansi and not willing to nego much of the listed price of 330k, so i just drove off. If they're not willing to even offer better price, don't know why they are having the fair. Complately waste of my time.

Skycon ... they offered the 330iA at Rm300K to me ... actually the best person to talk to will be Abel Paul. Dun waste your time talking to anyone else. He is evaluator in BMW and he is capable of making decisions on the spot. Naza has not got back to me on the pricing. But their car is made in 2002. They have two SMG's. One is the 325 and the other is the 330i SMG. Both are silver.
