If you can live with the fact that the car is one year old, with 10,000kms, not knowing who has driven the car whter they trashed it or not doesn't matter much coz you will not know. With the savings of RM40++k, you can use that savings and make sure you budget for it to be allocated when your Warranty & BSRI finishes to cater for the wear and tear parts. Even so, I dont think you will spend RM40k in total, hence, if you are an accountant, this point will be somewhat important factor to consider. Do note that, the car comes equipped with lots of electronic modules /gadgets such as comfort access, navigation with iDrive, HDD, etc...meaning, if the car was not taken cared properly in the early months, chances of wear & tear or equipment failing is higher than a newer car. One plus point though, when you purchase this car at RM200k plus minus, your residual value/depreciation will not be as bad as brand new. Hence, you dont loose so much when you want to sell the car.
IMHO, Rm40++k is a lot of money. The 2009 car would probably have a year or less than a year for the balance warranty. Do you want to take this risk? If you think the risk is outweighs the RM40++k savings, then, good on you. One plus point though, when you purchase this car at RM200k plus minus, your residual value/depreciation will not be as bad as brand new. Hence, you dont loose so much when you want to sell the car. But then again, if you intend to drive the car for at least 7yrs or more, then, do consider getting a newer car coz the depreciation don't matter so much and you would to maximize your "protection" (BSRI & Warr) as best as possible. On the other hand, nothing beats the brand new smell of leather and the privillege of owning a new car (eventho pre-reg). Technically the car is brand new with zero mileage or with very low mileage. Nothing can beat this experience and feeling. But the question is, can you depart with RM40++k to get this novelty to enjoy? If it doesn't hurt you in anyway, pls need not hesitate...go for it. :)
