For instance, based on history, most E46 maintenance costs primarily revolves around the engine bay due to wear and tear such as the vanos seals, valvles, gaskets, pumps, etc etc....but now with lets say the grey import E60 530d's with DPF(diesel particulate filter) for instance, it will cost you almost an arm/leg for the frequent change due to our Euro 2M quality diesel....that is just one example. And for the future models, if the trend is towards electro mechanical handbrake and dynamic suspension (eg.F10), then when warranty is over and the time comes for the part to give way, the electronic modules coupled with the actual physical part and parts, its definitely gonna be a dip in the pocket.So I dont really know how the ownership experience will be for the second hand F10 cars in the future, as the cost of ownership will definitely be higher than those who owns E60 (and those prior to that) simply because one fact remains, more electronic components and parts coupled with our harsh road conditions and weather which the modern equipped (more electronics, etc) UDM cars will be susceptible to faster wear and tear.   But I hope its not true, but from where I am standing, it seems pretty realistic, no?</blockquote>
