Well I noticed my car wasnt as "swift" over the past week or so, then the kickdown didnt happen as I overtook or went up a slope...its got worse on Monday when I took it to my regular mech(Pg). We test drove the car and as he accelarated the gears kept "slipping". He said the auto "clucth", may be worn so he had to open it up.I have been going to him for the last 2 yrs(since I bought the car),so I kinda trust him although he may be pricey at times. Anyway he returned the car to me yesterday and I have travelled over 100km since and it seems to be woorking fine now. No, he didnt do the torque converter as he said it was ok. He did show me the rings he changed and some of them were worn but he told me might as well do them all as he was already there. The previous owner owned the car for 10 yrs b4 me and told me that he didnt have problems with the auto.As for ATF and filter I have changed it twice in the last 2 yrs @20000km each, so I thought it was high time to overhaul the gearbox anyway! Of course 10% of my car value hurts but I intend to keep my car at least anorther 3 yrs so I guess its a necessary evil. My only concern now is that the problem goes away, which so far "touch wood" it seems it has. Just qurious, what would a overall overhaul cost and what would it entail and how about the torque converter?
