Hi Would like to seek your advice on the followings Should I go for Astro Beyond with Broadband? or UNIFI? Both offer and promised unlimited data plus highspeed internet, however Astro offer top up for additional channels.Price for both are almost the same.. your advice please. Thanks

Unifi without a doubt. Everything is available on the internet.. forget a$$throw.

I will be cutting my astro account soon, they have been noting but rubbish.

Unifi+home media player = best television experience you'll ever..experience.

Astro, as we know it, is based on bandwidth/radio/satellite transmission, hence it WOULD get affected during bad weather. and everybody knows how the general public feels towards them. most of their channel are popular. on the broadband side, do not know at which point it becomes a bottleneck. not clear how they would scale up the bandwidth.

Unifi on the other hand, is using fiber channel direct to your home, so bad weather would not affect, unless some contractor decides to dig up a hole and 'accidentally' cut the fiber lines. speed currently is capped to what....30MBps? either way, you'd have both internet and tv

happy hunting bro. If only the govt would impose a 'best-effort' payment for the consumers to these providers, based on their service........

I'm also deciding which one to go for now.......... Seems like the new Astro broadband is also using fiber optics cables......... thru TIMES ENGINEERING

If that's the case, it would be interesting to see how the service would be. Thought it was an alliance between Astro/Maxis as they are under the same umbrella.

Confirmed that Astro beyond broadband is leveraging on times fiberoptic. Therefore if speed is the same as unifi and it be definitely cheaper

Go for astro beyond fiber if your place is available. Where r u staying?

Im on astro iptv and broadband. You'll have a dedicated 100mbps per household with 30mbps dedicated to astro iptv uninterrupted. As for broadband I took the 6mb line. Astro iptv I took the superpack 3 which basically covers all astro channels including AOD and all HD channels with full PVR functions. Total cost is about $280. On top of that I get a free fixed line with no rental as its a pay per use. I've been contemplating on cancelling my telekom fixed line but I need a fixed line for my fax machine. So now with this astro voice plan, I can dump this telekom monopoly charging unnecessary rental of $25 a month even if u don't use it.
And yes I can confirm all astro channels can be viewed even if raining heavily or cloudy day as the transmission is from the fiber optics cable through a modem and not from the satellite dish.

Another good thing about Astro is, lock in period only 12 months.............. and free broadband for 2 months. looks like they are very aggressive and out to kill!

Interesting indeed. My area should be available by now (Astro website says by Q4 2011). Gonna make some enquiries
