Ok guys and gals, also specifically for bro IM who requested this... Before we start, i would like to point out that my car is a '05 UK-spec 523i with M-sport kit and Magnesium engine. This ICE system was already in the car when i bought it in January 2011, so i inherited the ICE from the previous UK owner, dun know if the previous owner is an orang putih or orang hitam or orang kulit kaler apa... I also have to say that the sales personnel at Ally Azran Jln Ampang where i bought the car didn't have any idea how to operate the DVD player. They thought it didn't work, haha, so tekan for some discount. After taking delivery of the car, i went to my usual car accessory haunt, HT Audio in Kg Tunku, PJ to have it assessed and find out how things worked. They promptly thought me how to operate the system. They also did find that the speakers have been changed, no longer ori. Btw, the brand of the system is called Directed, no idea bout this brand, never heard bout it before this. My car audio friend was cucuking me to change/upgrade to better components like Alpine and just maintain the cabling, but i told him that i will do so at a later date after i've finished with my preventive maintenance programme for the car, but that is a different story. This is how it looks; so nicely cut into the headrests; This is where the DVD player hides, a bit unsightly in my opinion; From the DVD player, the hidden cabling under the carpet hooks up to the I-Drive in the center dash. After turning on the DVD player and the screens, insert a DVD disc into the player and select 87.9 frequency on the I-drive screen to get the sound. My audio expert tells me that should we pass thru an area where a radio station operates on that very same frequency, then the radio will override the DVD sound output, but i dunno about any radio station here in Malaysia with an 87.9 frequency, hopefully none.
