Airbag Indicator

The airbag indicator for my E46 came on, and any seniors out there know how to solve it? Brought it to one workshop...it said that the sensor on the chair is spoilt....need to change it and will cost me more than RM 500...Should i change it or just leave it...or any senior experience this problem before and how much does it cost to fix the problem?Thanks.

It's on all the way on mine. I'm just leaving it like that. Too costly too fix. Some say it's the seat, some say it's the sensor now yours saying the seat! Some say the steering. Some even says it can be turned off using a MODIC. Just drive safe with seat belts will be fine

would a MODIC be able to tell where the fault lies? My e36 recently had the same problem and after plugging in the MODIC, the mech told me that it was the airbag cable (at the steering wheel). Replaced the airbag cable and the problem gone. The bloody thing costs me RM720, including labour charges :aggressive:

I'd heard it from someone, somewhere :huh: Either a forumer or a popular mech. That's why I just leave it be ler...

taiko : yeps, modic III wld b able to indicate where the fault is.

if yer lucky, its just a matter of resettin it usin the above-mentioned tools n it wld only cost a small fraction of wat wuz originally quoted to u.

if its bad news, then its the seat belt tensioner as per quoted. resettin wont do any gd cos the indicator wld only go off temporarily, after awhile it wld lit up gain trust me.

RM500 is considered alrite wiv me considerin dat ive heard as high as RM650 bucks dude.

mine lit up six months ago...checked it out and it was the seat belt tensioner...way too costly just to remove a little light on the cluster... so just left mine on....till shi.t loads of dosh fall from the sky la...

yeps, n risk drivin w/o airbags?

well, mine is still lit up fr day i bought, even after reset by modic n gt1, sighs ...

might hev the tensioner replaced soon i hope.

Thanks for all the advice...looks like i will have to drive with the indicator on as i don't feel like spending 500 over bucks just to change the tensioner.

Anyway, the 318 cannot go that fast either so i guess is pretty safe without the airbag
