Lee, i went to service my air-cond at your chap's place in J Gasing. Frankly, i was bored and had nothing to do so i dropped by his place. My air-cond belt occasionally squeked at high revs so i also mentioned it to him. I told him to let me know if any parts needed to be changed. When i went there 2 hours later, i was astonished to be presented a bill of $550. He had changed an air con switch and replaced the tensioner ($159) with a modified one (will last a lifetime, he said). I was extremely unhappy cos there had been nothing wrong with the air-cond, save the vents getting frozen up after 2 hours of continuous use (easily solved by recirculating the air). I subsequently had 2 other chaps look at my car. Both opined that the modified tensioner will damage my belt. Plus, the switch, which cost $200, was unnecessary. Barely 2 weeks later, the air-con screeches horribly and the "lasts a lifetime" tensioner is already coming apart. I'm now going to buy a new original tensioner plus a new housing bracket for it!
