They were quite analytical and discovered that the source of my problem was a shred of rubber which broke off from the heater valve rubber seal and got stuck in the heater coil. The shred of rubber was extricated and the heater valve and other parts were replaced. The aircon works fine now. Workmanship was good too.   I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.</blockquote>
