Dear all,Is it ok to put in additives in the washer fluid, apart from water? Today, there are many types of additives in the market. If you're using them, what are you using?I heard of some being expensive soap water, Rain X (to bead the droplets) .....etc. Will these pose a long term damage to the windscreen or wipers?Do share your experiences. Thanks.

I use sky juice.. :p

Sometimes we might want to just clean our windshield in a dry day, so having soap water is not a good idea because the over spray landed on the car body and not good for the paint if not wash away for days or even weeks.

With sky juice, no such problem.. even environmental friendly.. :top: .. and I seldom use the windshield spray... have not added anything or top up for the past 17 months.. :p

I put in some of my meguiars car wash typically so that it has a bit of cleaning/lubricative properties.

But honestly like astroboy said, rarely used haha. I've considered removing the system and shaving the hood where the nozzles are haha.

Hahahaha astro! Your car doesn't seem to need any top-ups, oil and petrol can also run at low levels. Very economical to run! :top:

Actually you have a point just using sky juice. It's worth checking the contents if you're going to use a washer fluid MSport. They're not all made of the same stuff and it would be wise to avoid alcohols like methanol, ethanol, isopropanol - alcohol eats rubber, wax and paint. Imported ones may even have ethylene glycol for lower freezing point, which we obviously don't need. Ethylene glycol is radiator fluid and is highly toxic.

I heard Coca Cola is also very effective in cleaning windshield.. :p .. only problem is it attract ants... lucky not roaches.. :p

Bro, your car seem to be self-sufficient - no need to top-up this and that, no need to fill air, apa pun tarak! Of course, only petrol required.

Very good lah you.

Aiyaa.. scare this scare that... might as well shift to live in the police station la.. That's what other told me.. how to enjoy life in the police station la.. :p

Then why fill petrol even? Just sky juice with a bit of ethanol-based washer fluid additive should do wat... :D

If I remember right, each BRSI service, BMW dealerships top up your windshield washer tank with water and a dose of BMW windshield washer additive. Dunno what it really does, but it cost like Rm15 for the small bottle if you buy it separately.

i add a few drops of washing up liquid (lemon), or use any clear type.

work ok for years now.

Wurth wihdscreen cleaner works well for me. Not expensive and last pretty long, just add water before the washer tank is empty.
Also, its a German product.

The SA told me that its lubricate the wiper blade so the blade last longer and the windscreen doesnt scratch.

It clearly stated on the bottle its "ANTIFREEZE" to prevent water in the reservoir from freezing in the winter la.

ofcourse la its equipped with anti freeze...europe and us have winter maaa.

As I mentioned, some imported windscreen washers have an ethylene glycol component to lower the freezing point...highly toxic. Wonder what's in the BMW washer.

i guess europe n us legislation on health safety and environment and customer rights are wayyy superior than our small little country with sale of bmw less than 2000 unit per year. So if they can accept it, who are we to question?

im using the BMW silicone, oil and greese remover i got from singapore....SGD 9 per 250ml...to be poured all into the tank...this one contains no alcohol compare to the one sold by the local dealers in small bottles...

At the end of last year when the LCI E90 is rolled out in Europe, they already produced 750,000 E90s.. so with only a miserable 2,000 unit a year here, mixed model.. omg! needle in the hay stack..

My high school science teacher said "salt" can do the trick as well.
