After so long, this really puzzle me. Why & how could a 5W-40 engine oil is more expensive than 10W-60 from the same brand?:confused:

I was wondering about that too: the Castrol Edge (40) vs Edge Sport (60). Also another thing seems to be backwards as one would expect: from the spec, only the Edge has BMW LongLife-XX designation but not the Edge Sport.

Someone who has tried both, can comment on the real diff felt while driving UDM?

the W means it will perform well in winter conditions..

the lower first number,
the better ability to flow in extremely cold weather..
and the easier the engine will crank and start..

the second number indicates the suitablity for hot-weather service..
the higher the number, the hotter weather it can handle..
tak penting sangat..
if the number is just 40, dah exceed engine operating temperature..

more information..

the number is refers to the viscosity..
the viscosity at a specific temperature..

so, the number just an index number..
a numerical scale..

20W is about -10°C..
15W is about -20°C..
10W is about -25°C..

lower than 10W,
tak tau dah..
he he.. :D
