It is just a airfilter (carbon fibre) which makes your air intake better ... cooler i believe due to the material composition!!!

yup, the bmc styled do perform the same though...

but the main thing is that this design encompasses a cyclinder to trap cold air to be channelled into the air filter as compared to open type or the standard normal ones which takes in hot air from the engine bay.....

cold air = better combustion = increase power!
