Tragic end: Onlookers watching Fire and Rescue personnel trying to get the car down from the ramp after they had put out the fire in Petaling Jaya early yesterday morning. Petaling Jaya police chief Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said initial investigations revealed that fuel had leaked from the petrol tank and the vehicle caught fire upon impact.“According to witnesses, the car was travelling from Bangsar and skidded, crashing into the divider just after Eastin Hotel,” he said, adding that police had ruled out foul play.“We will interview Mohd Firdaus to gather more information on the incident when he recovers.“He has been warded at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre,” said ACP Arjunaidi.Fire and Rescue personnel from the Section 7 station extricated the bodies about half an hour after they had put out the fire.

my condolence to the families & friends of the lost ones...i remember about 10 years ago there was a similar case with 3 friends in an e36 bmw around the same place scary stuff. now i'm thinkin of upgradin to brembo brakes...

ess530i, yup. 10 yrs ago, the 3 friends were my friends. they were all 18 yrs old and burn alive in the car. the door was trapped and coulndt open at all :( it happened just after victoriastation/jakes on jln damansara.

i personally think BMW design team is partly responsible for the deaths...come on look at the car it is not even badly damaged it doesn't make sense why the occupants cant escape. i think it has something to do with the locks which are operated electronically not mechanically so once the current is out it is impossible to unlock the doors. experienced that in my e36 once i electronically lock the car there was no way to open the doors mechanically from inside...

I was actually at the scene when the firemen was trying to put out the fire.

One of the plausible reasons can be due to the side impact the car had with a street lighting pole behind hitting the armco and went through it.

Upon the fire being put off, one could possibly see that the driver was trying to escape through the passenger door (the impact with the lighting pole was on the right side) and his head was outside the window, he could possibly be overcame by the choking smoke and the subsequent fire. His passenger was able to escape!

It was gruesome and a lesson to all.

Drive safe!

Condolences to the family of the deceased. BTW which BMW 328 model was it?

Most would be quick to say that any accident happens because of driver negligence... but for this i can tell you to blame it on the fools at the road works department who designed the road with a slopping negative bank angle on this right hand curve as oppose to one with the correct positive bank angel.

here is a attached article on a similar road design flaw ... click here

a positive bank angle is design as a failsafe so that the outer part of any drive wheel will have all the grip it needs to navigate the curve. a negative bank angle will throw any car off the road or cause it to skid.

my condolences to the family..,

my suggestion to all drivers especially in your BMW to keep a hammer and knife to break your windows and cut your seatbelts in an unwanted situation like this. i bought one of those 2-in-1 tools from the US but it got stolen when i serviced my car. i'm sure many of us will continue to drive fast (but pls be safe) and there's almost nuthin u can do bout the fools at the road works dept so this is least u can do...

Saw the skid marks and the site just now where they were cleaning up the carbon from the signboard post next to the broken rails which has not been replaced. Looks like the car swiped the right side concrete barrier and then the driver lost control and whacked into the signboard post and trough the divider. From the skid marks, the car was going fast. From the pics, it looks like an E46.

There has been cases here of members cars also, where after an accident, the door locks didn't unlock and the passenger had to climb out the window. Could be the cause fo the slower than usual escape. Very sad.

read the newspaper on this morning and wrote that's an e46,when i read the news i was get shock how come UDM so easy get burn, from the photo can see that the car was not heavy dmg ...so sad to heard about this matters and the family.

a member car e46 328 also get burn after an accident, that's few years back from now.

Deepest condolence to the family. May the souls rest in peace!

Another timely reminder to all of us to drive carefully
