[DIY] E46 OBC stalk retrofit

My unit is one of the dumbed-down trim that doesn't come with board computer stalk. Thanks to bro Zidee, the stalk was acquired.After installation of the stalk itself, the feature needs to be enabled through programming. I'm using DIS for programming, so if you don't have one, you might want to visit the mechanic for it.The car is an E46 N42 MY2002.Remove battery to not raise airbag alarm after installation

I'm on 4 spoke steering, remove two torx screws on each side to remove airbag and steering buttons

off

Remove bolt with wrench

Note the steering center marking

Remove top clip

Remove bottom clip

Pry open console and remove four torx screws to release slip ring

Three connectors to the slip ring

The turn signal connector already have four wires, the non-BC stalk uses only three

Exactly the question. I don't know. Maybe it is something on the options list. Does everyone else have BC?

p/s your multimedia panel project is awesome (guys...he even have a small form factor CPU in his E46 glove compartment and connect to 7 in LCD panel !). No wonder la...electronic whiz. Later I want to upgrade my scanner to GT1 like yours...he he.

Now the problem is I'm a little disappointed that the BC button only shows three functions and does not unlock the hidden functions. Oh well, anyway had a good father-son bonding time doing it.

Engine RPM, engine temperature...you know the ones you have to unlock with code 19 in the test menu on the dashboard.

Hey Bro, I got the stalk from a fellow forumer who is currently also seeking for an E46, it was sold at a reasonable price. You can try chop shop bro, hakitrade? This same part is shared with a few other models like E38, E39.. installation is fairly straight forward, let me know if help is needed with coding.
