Bought 2 years for mine. It gives you a peace of mind but you do have to service your car at the authorised workshops.

To my knowledge, there are currently 3 reputable companies offering warranties for cars without warranties:
    1) Wheelguard - highest premium cost, uses new original parts, fast claim process
    2) Opal - medium premium cost, uses new parts/rebuild parts/recon parts (depending on case), medium claim process (case dependant)
    3) Autogouard - lowest premium cost, doesn't cover all major parts, others similar to Opal

yes it does gives a peace of mind..to me that matters most as you can rempit the car as much as you want, hoping that something will breakdown along the way n can claim from the insurance company..some of our 335i members claimed almost rm10k during their term with Opal..common things that were claimed are ABS pump issues, HPFP, injectors, boost solenoids, vanos solenoids..most worth it if u can claim a pair of new turbos..hehe..

another disadvantage is some prefer to service our cars at our own specialist workshop, by having to service at only authorized panel workshops, it's hard to find the right workshop with that level of knowledge on our cars..another issue would be if any mods done, this will void the warranty unless u can kawtim with the workshop and/or remove the mods before making any claims..

by the way which z4 are you getting? z4 35is? for a 2009 model it is quite new (also depends on the mileage) there might not be any problem for the first year of ownership..the number of claims made all depends how the previous owner used it, how hard u push your car n of course luck :)

this car warranty insurance was also previously discussed in detail here:

Hi silverbullet , thanks for the valuable input. I'll go for it just for the sake of peace in mind. I did booked z4 23i 2009 model with 17km mileage . It's weekend car according to sales man so believe the parts shouldn't wear and tear much but who knows the good luck bad luck.

By the way I have to leave the car in the second hand dealer shop for another week to complete the paperwork after complete the OPAL check up before they offer me the insurance. Do anyone has heard experience on scam possible the dealer change the original parts? Just worried when I heard all kind stories!

bro, last time did my complete Opal check-up in less than an hour..basically they plug in the computer/diagnostic tool to scan for error codes..after that would be general visual check-up without even jacking the car...so good luck with your original parts hopefully everything is still intact after 1 week..hehe

When I bought my car the dealer bundled in one year Opal for free... Mine was a recon car. No inspection needed. The day I collected the car the dealer only took photos of the odometer, chassis number and overall outside photos.

Thanks gangs for all your input! I spoke to OPAL rep and it seems nowdays they only offer 1 year coverage for first time you own the car. It must be less than 7 years. You can't renew or take second year. The spare parts if changed only recond and not ori. Anyhow I will be taking the car to BMW service centre for full check up before do final payment. Not sure if it still worth to carry on the OPAL if report shows no issue. Confused ... Hahahaha

Mine was advertise to come with warranty but later after we negotiate the price...the sales guy doesn't include it which make to same price what they advertise where they mark up wt warranty. Hehehe... That's why I hate and never trust any sales guy. They are not genuine.
