Just putting this issue for discussion.. Before i own one, people keep on telling me once u go for a BMW, u'll never go for other car.. :) ok so i got lucky (alhamdulillah) when i came back to malaysia after completion of my study, i told my dad that one day i'm gonna buy a bimmer.. That weekend my dad bring me to jalan-jalan cuci mata tengok kereta and i was showing much interest on the e60 at the shop.. Nak jadikan cerita, at home about a week after, my dad again took me to the shop and told me " kereta ni kan yang abg nak?" i was like $&7):?:$:$:'dhd speechless.. And starting from that day i got the chance to be a proud owner of a BMW.. Thanx to my dad for belanja me the deposit and part of the monthly payment until i was quite stable financially.. Hehe thanx dad!!

Seriously, BMW as your 1st car, you wouldn't appreciate it as much as those who own other cars before. I wouldn't recommend 1st car to be BMW.

Just like the order of how we eat our food, certain dishes should be eaten last. :4:

Yup, I didn't believe at first when they say once you own a bmw not many other cars can compare. I think because of the complete package a bmw car can give regardless of which model or year. Very nice of your dad to belanja the deposit and help with the monthly. Is he a bmw fan too??

Even it's my first OWN car.. I used to drive my mom satria neo, my dad merc, my dad estima, my dad honda.. And too much to list as my dad use to have driven like 30-40 cars to time.. My dad suka tuka kereta but he also admit BIMMER IS THE BEST CAR.. Hehe..

Yeah, my dad prev drove sport cars when he was young.. That time car very cheap.. My mom once told me my dad can reach johor from melaka using old road in less than 2 hours.. Driving a convertible alfa romeo.. But after he met with an accdnt which almost got him killed he no more drive fast.. But still a very good driver.. Just put him behind any car and u'll see.. Old timer.. Hehe

Such good life! My first car in Malaysia was a Saga Megavalve.. which didn't even last more than 2 years, totaled the car.. :4:

So u just drive only or do u maintain those other cars too, pay/hunt for parts, frequent workshops? these are part of the ownership experience which I'm referring too.

I started with BMW 6 years ago (age 31) am still enjoying bmw now, regardless of 3 of 5 silis. .you are soooo lucky that yr dad gave u yr down payment as i had to source it myself..now i also have odyssey absolute 200hp in my stable, but my 170hp 5 silis is still my fav..so clearly bmw still rulzz..hehe

You're one lucky young chap that your old man love you so much and let you have a UDM as first car :4: .

I think the next best thing you must do is keep your father happy and maintain your E60 well not to disappoint your old man and yourself.

My "first car" was actually a trade-in of my dad's old car + monthly own repayment, my 2006 8th Gen Civic.

My first truly own car is a BMW, my E39.

The cars I ever driven are:
1992 Nissan Sentra B13 (1999 - 2003)
1994 Accord CD5 (SV4) (2003 - 2006)
2006 Civic FD1 (2006 - 2011)
2003 BMW E39 (2008 - )
2009 BMW E87 (2011 - )

msyizz, u r lucky indeed..
my 1st beemer was in the mid 90s, when i was studying in the UK. got myself a 3 year old 520 manual with a grand price of GBP5500 (saved & saved after slogging out in McDs and chippys). Alot of great memories in the car and it served me well for 2 years before 1 sold it off (@ GBP 5300 believe it or not). Sadly when I came back, the only car that I can afford with my measly starting pay was a satria 1.3 manual. this is the time when I trully-trully miss driving the beemer.... I have tried asking my dad for a loaner to get 1 but got a smack across the face instead (figure of speech).. thereon I swore that 1 day I will get myself 1....
fast forward to today, 13 years on, only able afford my 1st beemer.....

Yes of course.. Really will take care of my first e60.. But alhamdulillah e60 got no prob.. And we hav a mech( a good mech, honest, and reliable) to look after my bimmer for routine service / maintainance..

Insyaallah.. Who knows not e60 but f10 will be yours..

In my case, its a lil bit different.. my dad was the one who racunned me.. My first car was actually my mom's perodua kembara.. u know how bad it drives, thats why my mom doesnt want to drive it. an all time 4 wheel + 1.3 n/a engine.. depressing..
then i moved on to wira a/b 1.3, and get into this kind of motorsport action, fully modded n/a engine, got into this drag/track thingy and yes, i still have it as my daily workhorse..

i was about thisclose to buy the toyota celica, when my dad brought me to the used car center and asked me to test drive the e39, then he said after that he will let me decide which one i want..
and yeah e39 is now mine.. i let my mom drives to school everyday.. my dad is all to blame.. :D
