TD04 turbo, new intercooler, piping, external blow-off valve, Air Fuel Controller, turbo timer and etc.;) The car would be more drivable and should easily whack a 328 :D

    Nicely said, Alvin.

Didn't know there were so many forced induction nuts here but my money will be on a NA route. An S50B30 engine will fit the bill nicely and best of all .... you can even strap a turbo onto it later if the 286 stock bhp is not enough to float your boat. It's a hardy engine that takes more abuse than the much vaunted S50B32 and beats it in terms of reliability as well. Anyway, different strokes for different folks ... ;)

    Cheers,
    VaN.

    Reedoor,

I'm hardly the expert to speak to - I'm just a wee bit technically inclined, that's all. If you're friend is from JB, the finding someone here to get the S50 conversion done is not going to be easy. Even a Singaporean pal of ours recently did his S50B30 conversion on a E36 318is coupe in KL. Anway, I'll PM you my number shortly.

    Thanks,
    VaN.

why dont u guys consider sr20.for my experiance this suits better.

    1.four pot turbo
    2.light weight
3.easier to find spare parts n cheap
4.very strong low n mid range.

1jz too smooth n silence.n low n mid not very fun.the fun only start in high end.as the g-force starts from high end.n in this kind power band does not really suit for a bimmer(heavy body).as the g force comes in only in higher range, wit ur heavy body.the car might not stop safely..

most of the continental car who go for performance instead of smoothness, will go for sr20.if u just wanna drive normally or family drive, ijz its best.sr20 for those wanna go fast n take corners safely.1jz to take high speed corners r not recommanded wit the weight of our cars.

nway thats only base on my experience

    reedoor,
if your friend insist jap engin go for the 2jz 3000cc (vvti)more reliable ,powerful 300hp and better fuel comsumption. 2jz is a new engine with better technology.
my brother converted his 4.6 range rover to a 2jz vvti. good performance.:p
