    Hi all,

I am currently contemplating which brand of air intake to upgrade to for my N20B20. Does any Sifu/Taiko here have any experience with these brands? Which one do you think its better, in terms of performance and reputation?

From what i was quoted, Gruppe M is almost RM1,000 more expensive than ARMA.

I have seen both on other makes and models, most of them opt for Arma purely because it is cheaper. In terms of performance, not that much increase

Surprisingly, I was told it won't. That's why I'm thinking of upgrading it.

Other factors to consider would be:

    1) Air intake hose diameter - bigger diameter yields more air
    2) Filter size, material (dry or wet/oil) and brand (for example GruppeM uses K&N)
    3) Tune - get the right tune to optimize the hardware changes done. Heavily modded turbocharged cars would really benefit from air intake upgrade, but for more significant power I would go for bigger intercoolers, downpipes, exhaust systems (things I'm sure you would do after warranty ends)

One thing for sure from upgraded air intake you would be addicted to the "woooshhh" sound when air is being sucked hardddd.

Before further moving forward, do consider the following myths on CAI:

Just my 2 cents. Have fun modding.

Good Stuff Silverbullet (or maybe Blackbullet now :)) !! The link really helps shed some light on cold air intake....Now I am abit scared that it might reduce power after i change the air filter. :hmmmm2:

Nonetheless, GruppeM seems to be the more popular one among the BMWs owners on the internet. ARMA's variable cold air intake sounds like it would be subject to frequent maintenance or even malfunctions.
