I know this has been discussed before. Just want to share my recent experience. My E90 has been on Petronas RON 95 since I collected my car [new] April last year. The cost/mileage is about RM0.19 to RM0.21 on highway and city driving.I could not find any Petronas on Penang Island last week and had to put in Shell RON95.The mileage turns out to be RM0.15 [from Penang to KL], which is a lot better.I just pumped in a full tank today to double check on the numbers. The full tank capacity is 760 kms - you guys on E90 get the same numbers? Thanks!

I believe its impossible to get a 15% improvement from Petronas to Shell. I use Shell and Petronas, hardly any difference. Only fuel that I really did see consistent improvement in mileage is the old PROJET. Even then its a mere 5%. Real saving in fuel comes mainly from the right foot.

Whats yr FC in litres/100 kms for average and then on Shell?

My best FC is with ESSO/MOBIL but thats only with my Perdana. My bimmer is either Petronas or Shell but no diff as per Tianci

That's sub 8L/100km. I can never get 760km per tank. Those are near diesel number. I'll be smiling if can get anything sub 11L/100km. I on Shell Ron95 because got BonusLink points.. :4:

Mine is E90 320i, I was on a full tank of Petronas RON 95 from KL to Penang.

Door to door via Penang bridge is 376kms. When I reached, I checked the system - it read 13km/L.

I was driving about 110km/h, with all the AES around, I tried very very hard to keep to the limit. I just updated my Garmin 2465 with the AES locations and it was going off now and then.

I pumped a full tank of Shell RON 95 while in Penang (the low fuel indicator came up just before I pulled into a Shell station). After reaching back in KL, I added the mileage clocked and the "Fuel Range" number and it adds up tio 760kms - reason why I asked/mentioned this is that I've never seen such a high number before .... too good to be true?

Anyway, I pumped a full tank of Shell RON 95 this morning and will monitor again.

I pumped RM93.26 worth of RON95 petrol while the odometer says 586 kms [looks like close to 16 cents/km rather than 15 cents]

I am glad to know that Shell fuels have provided you with additional mileage and a splendid experience. Idop Shell!

My 320i using petronas Ron95 can get around 780km on highway. Mostly 110kph, once in a while 130/140 kph.

320i my best FC on highway is about 8litres/100km ... can be slightly below too. That engine is pretty sweet on highways for a conti!

Ermmmm....weird that Shell doesnt work for my car while it works for others...not even their ron 97...everytime i use their ron 97 my car's engine ignition timing would be retarded and idling rpm at 1k...this only happens if i use ron 95....

there is once i call shell to complain about a station in JB after i fill up the car with ron 97 it was very sluggish and engine rpm gone all weird...Shell ask the station owner to call me to clarify which he did and bs me about his station ran out of ron 97 and wat actually went into my car was vpower racing...i told him it was ron 95 coz the fuel was yellow and not blue or red and he kept quiet and shell also kept quiet after that...since then no more Shell for me....

so far Petronas, BHP and Caltex ron 97 works on my car...

Different cars different results i guess ... I get best mileage and performance wise on Esso/Mobil for ron95 and Caltex for Ron97 for my e46. My last choice would be shell except for v-power racing which i havent tried.

I picked up my new 520i from Wearnes Autohaus Segambut last Thursday with the mileage of 6km clocked on the car and full tank complimentary from them.
I drove the car to Kuantan that day. Then on sunday I drove to KL then back to Kuantan.
Tried all the mode (sport, comfort, comfort+, eco pro) and on the LPT most of the time on eco pro mode. Average travelling speed was 100km/h on Karak hwy and 120km -130km/h on LPT.

I only fill in the tank with Shell Ron95 when reached Kuantan after clocking 863km!!.
I then realized that after fill in the tank, the display showed 1123km to go with the fuel in the car. I stop the car after driving for 3 km to take this pic.
Is fuel consumption that good. I will definitely note down the consumption in my next refueling.

Bro AB,

Besides the Boguslink, get an Amex card from MBB, treatpoint is 5X when fueling at Shell during weekend! Almost every 2 months can redeem RM 100 worth of shopping vouchers from Metrojaya or Jusco... :4:

IMO, Boguslink points were collected since childhood till now, yet didnt manage to redeem much good stuffs...

This is bad experience and certainly not on for the dealer to BS you and the Shell callline not following up on the BS. If you like, pls share with me the details of station, date and who you spoke to. If u paid for 97 and got 95, that in itself is already deceit. It would certainly aid if you share with me, so as i can ensure a proper investigation is carried out. Hopefully details are not outdated that it will be difficult to trace back.

Dear forumers, for future ref, pls ensure such experiences are lodged to the Shell helpline, or any other oil companies helpline from where you purchased the product. If you dont share, the oil co will probably not know and it shall be very difficult to ensure a reliable quality product on site, despite the very many check and balance controls in place. People who wanna scam are always one step ahead! This also applies to reckless trailer drivers. Tq

Good point Ssmann - i am on Ron 97 Shell but this particular station in Bangi (x-Projet) is weird. Twice - when i filled up with Ron 97 - the check engine lit up. Running thru Autologic - it detected that I am on Ron 95 . I skipped this Shell station totally now. Had no issues with other Shell station though.

Member!!!! :67: Same reason as me too i.e. Bonuslink, though mine also more for convenience as have 2 Shell stations near my place. Personally I have also tried Petronas, BHP, Caltex, ESSO. All with as full a tank as I can get, and on at least 2 continuous fill ups just to be sure to get better averages. Didn't seem to make a significant difference to my FC. So I always went back to convenience, i.e. Shell

Dang! I've been using MBB Amex for years now and never really noticed this. Will try to fill up on weekends now :)

Thanks for the offer to escalate but I do not wish to pursue this based on two reason;

- there is other choice
- the fuel dont work on my cars

Yesterday i filled up with Petronas 95, immediately the pinking sound can be heard clearly. It's been almost quiet
for a few weeks (very slight pinking sound, almost silent) as I've been using other petrol brands (all Ron 95). Same thing
happened before when I fill up with Petronas.
