What is AB thinking with this pricing strategy? The new 2007 Cooper at RM198K is a big jump from the previous model.I think it's just crazy. I'm in the middle of replacing my 2003 Cooper (already sold to bro in law) with a new cooper but obviously put off by the new price. Furthermore in JB tak ada Mini test drive.WTF.My wife prefers the Cooper but my heart says at that price I will go for GTI.What do u think?Cheerio

R32..gulp...budget sub200K only bro.
Already book for GTI test drive tomorrow.

VW after sale sucks....my friend's windshield crack, dah sebulan belum replace....imagine shining new car running around with cracked windscreen

Went for GTI test drive today. It's a fantastic pocket rocket. Reminds me of my old Charade Turbo. Powerful yet smooth. No jerkiness whatsoever while driving thru JB town.I know my wife will love it too. The only setback is the noise coming from those german tyres. No doubt its the best hothatch at sub200K. What can autobavaria offer at this price to match GTI?

its DSG gearbox is oredi one par above the rest.. as rightly said by many reviewers, its the car of the year, minus the badge.

Yup, the dsg is fantastic, super smooth. Shifts imperceptibly, yielding an uninterrupted torque curve.

No one knows how to rebuild it yet though, double clutch, very complicated. Brand new replacement costs > RM20k. so advisable to sell it off when it starts giving pbm a couple of years down the road.

i go for the mini cooper s works

I totally agree with you.... Recently had the pleasure of having a Cooper for the weekend - I tell you this is one amazing fun car! If you love driving and want to enjoy every bit of it - get yourself a Cooper, Cooper S or the Cooper S works......... I bet you won't regret it! It has BMW written all over it......

Yeah but the Cooper S (no works) is MYR239,290.

I would go for the Golf GTI.

In fact, for abit more room and "close" power, the Audi A4 2.0t Multitronic is going for quite a good price now. The B7 of course.

Despite what you read online and "here" from people, who mysteriously heard from someone else, the Multitronic in the B7 has given me no problems at all thus far. Even including sepang drives. :)

I think they can be had for below RM200k now? with Bose sound system and nice interior and more space than the Golf GTI, a very good bargain.

Did i mention the boot space is amazing too? View to believe. :)

For the Mini, it does have the BMW DNA in terms of handling and feel. It doesn't feel like a FWD at some point when you push it.

I am still light headed after the huge dose of the BMW DNA 2 weekends ago. Yummy.

The Golf and A4 are very good car.

It's just that the Mini is a much cooler car, and has that wow "chic" factor.

And yes for that, you have to pay a little more!!:top:
