Hi Newbie, Some input for your consideration (if you are still considering...) 1) Problem with gearbox? Not really...in my view. You just have to understand that sequentials are not autos. They are manuals but use actuators to move the clutch, plus some electronics to govern the gearbox from damage. Should last approx 100k before some maintenance is required. 2) In my experience, I regularly turn 440km per full tank. 3) Road tax is by CC, - so approx RM700+ 4) Like what the other forumers have said...bimmers are bimmers. Dont expect honda, toyota or proton maintenance costs. SMG doesnt really add more to the maintenance unless its actuators/clutch are worn. 5) Is SMG good? its great for spirited drive, esp in Sports mode. Gives that control that the normal autos cant. Blip up and down...e.g, blip to 4th or 3rd, for instantaneous acceleration to overtake on kampung roads. On track days, you could use the Launch control..by disabling the DSC, car will rev to 4000rpm and then jets...tyres smoking. But you have to learn to shift like youre driving a manual...takes some time to get the rhythm right, then its rewarding. If you are impatient, lazy,...then just stick to the good ol autos.
