Fairly nice paint.(only 1st and 2nd gear have troubles to gear in....must clucth in damn deep and good timing.. any tips/advice for this? pls all sifus?) Even my 83' Benz Manual doesn't have this issue.I bought a carbon fiber vented bonnet for this E36, but unluckily when i were fitting it this afternoon, it simply doesn't fit nicely on one side of the fender lining. Guess the carbon bonnet have its defection? nway.. kind of dissappointed, and rejected it back to Racecraft Sunway, and the deal was off. "Any E36 member willing to give it another try, pls look for Lawrence in Racecraft. It is really an rare piece of Made in Japan's Carbon Fiber Vented Bonnet @ Rm2500."Nex thing is i m goin to get the above LED all smoked Rear Lamp which i think its kind of rare too compared to those with red & black rear lamp.So far 17" is good to me since i m driving it everyday and nite.CAr with Melaka Plate numbers, any member may say hello to me in KL/Selangor if u happened to bump into me!thks for viewing!Jan2013: Downgrading to 205/50/16 & 225/45/16 & 16inches rim wif tyres white wall. A Lot stable than previous (mayb old tires b4).

nice car and indeed a very nice colour bro.. never had the chance to drive 3 series.. would love to try one.. especially the one with manual tranny

Looks like brand new :) BTW, you gear problem could be to various factors,

1) A faulty guide sleeve on the 1st & 2nd
2) Gear syncro starting to fail

You should try changing the fluids first and give it a try, did work for some.

thks guys for liking~
nway, pics are nearly a year ago with new paint with original color code.
now the paint condition still fairly nice.

V-man,
would u mind sharing me what is guide sleeve?
and what is the solution for this 2 factors, if changing Gear Oil not working out?

Nway, i bring to a mechanic near my Place in Kuchai Lama- PKL Motorsport, which doing lots of BMW too. (Anyone know them/try them?)

the boss, Ah Lai told me it could be the Rear Differential's Bushes, 3 of them needed to be changed, RM120 per bush + Rm200 Labour Charge.
or
the clutch gear/plate for 1st and 2nd Gear need to change.... havent quote me though.

V-man,

thk u so much! really an great article!

after driving sometimes... starting to get used to it and getting better gear change.. 2nd gear in smooth only in low rev, will see how it goes...

Speed Devil since you are changing the bushes, try to consider PU bushes. They last longer and just coz a little more than the ori ones. try powerflex or superpro. both a reputable brands.

I know where you live ;)

Regarding the PKL Motorsport, I've only been there to see some parts/cars.. never had them service any tho. How was your experience there?

thks guys for all d info.

V-Man,
is all Manual BMW also put in Auto Transmission Oil?? tats what i read in the article and heard mechanic said.

Hi Chrix,
E36 Silver? Kuchai is a very small place. i m only living here temporarily.
The PKL quote me RM120/bush. What a crap~
and one of d mechanic used a big screw driver to poke d knucle bushes to check whether its broken... ???? i was thinking it sure wld be broken..

I went to Bavarian Auto yesterday, bought:
1. Alternator Connector 2 pieces @ Rm120
2. B Pillar interior Cover (From Up to Bottom - 1 piece) @ RM290!! is this expensive??
3. Sunvisor with mirror - RM450/piece !! Are they kidding me? i cut this out. Ebay is selling much more cheaper no matter used / new ! Pls advise.

^^ Check on your box. There will be a sticker on stating ATF or MTF, mine shows ATF.

found this on a website:
Why does my transmission grind so much?
Apparently this is a widespread problem among TEL owners. I guess you have heard a lot of people are having trouble fixing it, but it looks like there are not many complaints from 95 owners.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
At this point no known cure has been found. Yes, not even changing the whole transmission has solved the problem in many cases.
But there are couple thing you can help to lessen the grind:
Use Red Line MTL (or MT90) or BG Synchroshift fluids, this helps eliminate most of the shifting problems
Check to see if your clutch master cylinder must be replaced
Don't downshift from high rpm alot, if it's not necessary. Instead use your brakes.

Redline MTL in the grearbox
Redline 75/90 in the diff (make sure you get the one made for LSD)
Royal Purple 10w30 in the engine

Depends. MTL and MT90 shift like crap in my 140k mile-old E36 M3 tranny, but shifts great in an E30 M3 tranny. Different additives, different synchro metals, different results. BG Synchroshift works awesome in my E36 M3 tranny. MT90 ground 3rd gear synchro on the Watts brand new Getrag 6-speed, Royal Purple is in there now with acceptable results. I'd like to see how Gear FF works. I put BMW MTF-LT2 into a brand new ZF 330i 6-speed, and it still grinds a tiny bit when shifting really fast. I think the owner just deals with it for now.

For your Evo, I've heard nothing but rave reviews for BG Synchroshift. Same goes for a lot of Japanese transmissions, esp Mitsu's.

any opinions? where to get RedLine and BG @ good price?
