The SMG1 or SSG is troublesome, with frequent leaks at the hydraulic actuator.  With SMG2, the actuator is a lot bigger and even my mechanic (who has repaired a lot of these SSG/SMG1 actuators) actually said, he has not seen any failed SMG2 actuators yet! Hope he wont see any, anytime soon! After driving mine for more than a month now, I would say get the SMG! Once you are used to it, the SMG2 is a joy to drive, more so if you are driving into the city daily.  On the track, the SMG2 actually auto blips when you downshift and again, you don't need to heel and toe, unless you do enjoy doing.
