Yours "E" to "F", hers "----", but mine "0" to "1" wor! What else do they have - "K" to "P"?

These Germans are not very consistent huh? :106:

I think she meant the OBC which calculates how many more KMs you can drive based on the fuel on board. Basically when it hits 0 kms it turns to "-------"

Rachel, did you run out of fuel after 3 kms after the "----" appeared?

Huh?! Got "0" to "1" ka? Actually I didn't pay attention to mine also... might be the same.. :p

Moments later.. Yes! Schwepps, u r right.. :p "0" to "1" :D The Germans are consistent..

But what's that padlock sign all about then? BTW, I've overtaken you in total km already. You saving the car for someone ah?

No, i didnt run out of fuel. Cos when it turn "-----", i was looking for the next petrol station. of course i was sweating la....
Since BMW is a smart car..i m assuming it has "reasonable" liquid balance... I'm sure there are some "risk" drivers around..
come come..share

Sorry la, never been there girl! I get nervous already when 1/4 tank left. Chicken driver...

Like this ahh..hehehe..I also went around 3km's

JohnJ why only 3 KM. You should have gone until the engine stop. Then we know far it can last and also how much would a new fuel pump cost.

It is not recommend to run your fuel pump dry. :stupid:

Also not recommended for the ego of a BMW owner to be seen pouring in petrol from a can by the side of the road. Sure everybody will take handphone photo and circulate wan! :D

jarance, is the fuel pump the only thing likely to be affected by running dry?

can call AAM! :p
how I know? cos I did run my old CRV dry. The car stop in the middle of the road and I caused JAM :(
That was like yonks ago ...when I thought E for Enough!

Yes, the fuel pump would be affected. The petrol is use as a cooling medium to cool down the motor and pump when it is running. Also the carbon brush of the DC motor will wear off faster as he motor is spinning faster due no no load on the pump (no petrol=no load). You might also have the pump suck all the rust but there is unlikely to cause any problem as the suction of the pump have a filter and also the outlet of the pump have a filter.

i dont think other thing would be affected other than your bruised ego.
