No offense, but do remember that there are bound to be lemons in everything, including cars. In your brother case, I think that he bought a lemon instead. You can ask other E36 drivers out there.. I'm sure that they will beg to differ on what you were saying. Personally I know someone who has been driving E36 for more than 10 years but never encountered any problems... he treated his E36 like his own wife :D Our govt has recently switch the diesel grade to Euro 2M in which I think not clean enough compared to what other European countries are using right now. But BMW Malaysia has announced that the diesel grade is good enough to be used in BMW cars in our Boleh-Land. Otherwise they won't introduce the 3-, 5- 7-Series and X3 with diesel engines that are more expensive than those petrol counterpart for no apparent reason. What good about diesel engine is better fuel economy. However having said that, I will still go for 525 or higher as the engine displacement has more oomph! :D When you buy unregistered cars (recond), they will normally give you 6 to 12 months warranty... AND ONLY LIMITED to the GEARBOX. Keep that in mind ok? I bought my E60 Japan specs last year which is also a recond car.. and prior to that was very worried that the E60 might be problematic. But after going through the threads in this forum, I finally decided to take the plunge by owning UDM. I searched for my ideal car from Sunway to Old Klang Road to Cheras to KL and finally bought my car in PJ... tiring and time consuming I know. But I don't wanna my car to fail on me and my hard work paid off. Should you buy a new car then at least you are covered for 2 years but if you plan to buy a recond or secondhand car, please do these: 1) find an experienced mechanic shop to check on whether the car has been involved in accident or not. 2) BMW specialist to inspect the car thoroughly from tip to toe... normally you can request to send the car to the specialist workshop to do diagnostic on their electronic parts (thru their computer) & to check on things that cost a bomb such as suspension and engine. All these works will cost you a few hundred ringgit but it's well worth it... at least you won't end up with a lemon :top:
