The front cup holder of my E39 was spoilt since day one i collect my car and initially i thought its ok .. But after a 2+ hours drive from Kampar back to KL .. i had realized the importance of the cup holder ..Do you have any idea on where i can get a good replacement? From most forum, it seems like the original E39 cup holder is pretty fragile .. so do you think its good to replace the faulty one with a new one or should i look for other alternative? like those universal cup holder?

I did not have the cupholder in my car when i first got it. There was a TMC module (TrafficMaster) in its place. Straight away I took out the TMC and replaced it with a brand new ori BMW cupholder. Its been two and a half years since and its still working fine, and I used it daily. Perfect for a tin drink (Coke etc) but NOT for cups, despite the name.

They're about £30-40 on UK ebay. If you buy online make sure you buy the correct one for RHD, they're flipped for the LHD version.

Best aftermarket around is the TEC cupholder but pricey as hell

Bro bmw7833. Where to get it & how much?

I somehow find the front cupholder location a bit annoying especially when there are cups. How to adjust the a/c button without moving the cups la. Hehe.

I like this .. but too bad i cant find any RHD unit :-( tried to search it via ebay UK but no luck :-(

Take out the whle cup holder (only 2 screws) and use cable tie to permanent tie up the holder.

If you take it out, cable tie it and put back, how are you going to screw it back in?

The solution most people do is just slide a folded piece of paper under the cupholder arms just like how you do it to keep a door open.

Hehehh..not need to screw back lo..the holder can fit in and normally the arm popping out not the whole holder.

A little sticky tack / blu tack works great for me ... : )

wuts the price for 1 anyway?

From their website, it stated $24.99, but the freight cost is cutting throat.

I am trying to get better price from him.

what i did to my broken cup holder is, i just unscrew the 2 screw... take out the whole cup holder... rip off all the mechanical part leaving only the cup holder frame... went to accesories shop and ask them to cut a plate (using no. plate board) according to the cup holder frame size and wrap with carbon fiber sticker... screw back the frame to my car and stick the customize plate using 3M double sided tape on top of it to cover the hole at the frame.
