Dropped my car off at AB sg besi earlier this morning for inspection II (pain anticipated). Checked out the new CKD E90 320i, 325i and 320i SE. Some things I noticd about he 325i are 1) Car comes shod with 17" BUT only 225 wide tyres all round unlike the 245 rears for the CBU2) Car sits higher than the CBU E90 325i coupled with its skinny tyres and shallow rim offset makes it looks like a duck on stilts from the rear3) Beige/cream interior with brushed aluminium trims (not bad)4) CSC2 tyres all round5) Paintwork doesnt look as good as the CBU paint.6) The 17" rims are quite ugly based on my taste. Prefer the CBU design. No major specs upgrade to the CBU batch from what I could tell with my eye. Bottom line is that CBU E90 325i owners got a better deal seeing that some of these units were flogged off just below RM300k new. CKD 320i SE gets beige interior with walnut trims and 17" wheels as well (225 only). Still has the same problem with skinny rear tyres and shallow rim offset and high ride height. Also NO M bodykit, which is kinda odd for an "SE" spec classification BMW Malaysia should learn from CBU units and spec up the E90 3 as good looking or even better than the CBU. Sigh.. What will be nice to see is 18"s in staggered setup and sports suspension (ala CBU 330i lookalike) for the 325i.

Yikes... the CBU presents a better deal then. How can a 218 bhp car come without sports suspension and just 225s all round! Didchu check if there are any more CBUs for sale?

Its a marketing thing. They let this current batch get snapped up then a couple of years later they will add more specs and/or bring out a M kitted version with slightly better specs (like SMG maybe?). Maybe even add the 330i in the line up? After another year or so, a facelift version comes about. Keeps the product line fresh over the course of the product shelf life.

ps - do let us know your Inspection II damage. :)

Well, I guess with the market not being so good, I can wait! The facelifted E90 could look much better than the plain jane looks now. Been seeing a lot of E90 320i in 'em puny wheels. Looks disgusting considering the 3er is suppose to be an iconic zerman sports saloon!

Agreed, the 320 rims are just a turn off!!. heard the same about the CKD 325 rims.

Yeah, I just spoke to E46F and he had the same thing to say! The E90 325i rims looks so bland! Well, safri... it only makes your E46 330i look so much better ain't it?! heh!

Does anyone know how much is the CKD 523i?

CKD 523i is at 360K including insurance..heard u can get an 8K off....

:) i wouldn't mind e92 though....hehehe. i concur 3er's views - this is just bmw's mktg strategy, they did the same thing for previous models, look at e46, when it was first launched, the model was practically naked and then came series of facelifts.

juan, new 523 CKD around RM340+K...my friend got one few months back, very de happy la...

Just another way that AB is screwing you over!
Come as no surprise

the e90 ckd is not worth buyin at all... a few of us were in ab last sat and after inspectin the ckd e90 we did not bother to test drive it (waitin was a prob) but we managed to test drove the e60 520.... wat a pleasant surprise we had. at 180kmh rpm was bout 3500.... real fuel saving and quite a package (RM298,000). the 320i did not come with comfort windscreen (green band on top)... how can tht b whn it is a german marque??? the se model came with sensors tht most of us would not wan also......

"Buatan Malaysia" mah! Save cost of importing the good stuff from Germany. Which of course makes you spend more on V-Kool or whatever and later you wonder why the tint still isnt good enough and your a/c is still working overtime....

i saw a e90 330i in florida with the 18" elipsoid rims, sports susp setting and sports bodykit..... Just one word to describe it.........YUMMY!!!!!!!!!

Ehhh.... picture please???

I notice there is no space for spare tyres. Does that mean a E90 owner has to live with the dreadful run flat tyres?
