Hi all. Like to seek some advice to determine the cause of an oblong bubble, about 3" long and 1" wide, that appears just next to the rim. Is it something that I should worry about. The Bridgestone tyres have done about 28k km and still the same set since the car, Z4, was bought in 2007. Thank you.

Yes it's something you should worry about the swelling means that the internal structure of the tire have been compromised. Better change it as soon as possible.

"bubbles" like that are usually the result of the tyre being kerbed pretty badly or hitting a pothole with full force. What happens is that the steel belting holding the tyre's shape underneath the rubber snaps/breaks and the rubber, now without internal support, expands out because of air pressure.

Best take the tyre to the nearest RFT-certified tyre shop ASAP and get it replaced, bro. That tyre could blow any moment....

any bubbling, damage, tears, scratch etc etc on the sidewall is DANGEROUS and must be attended to immediately.more so if it's an RFT tyre.their sidewalls are made tougher for it's intended purpose....to run flat

Thank you all.

BTW, what is CSC3 and where is their workshop? Pirelli is near where I live in Temasya. Worth going there? Guess no real danger to have non- Bridgestone tyres in front!

Hi all,

Finally, changed the 2 front tyres and now can drive with peace of mind and slightly higher speed.

Decided to go with Michelin PS2 and the short drive to the office seemed to give a slightly softer feel than the OEM Bridgestone.

Went to Lim Tyre TTDI and each piece cost me RM1100. Size 225/40/18 and much cheaper then Pirelli@rm1650 and Bridgestone@rm1600 - rm1800!
