Had great fun to day at APAC centre, Glenmarie. My time slot was at 9 am once there we were briefed then off we go to the cars which is a row of E60 (i got the 523i) for our 1st event which is the emergency braking and emergency lane changing exercise ... It's basically a short runway line up by cones where at the end on the runway we are expected to hit hard or stomped as my feisty and experienced racing driver mr. Ivan Kong say stomped it as hard as you can, then swerve to the right and onto the adjacent runway ... That excersice is to show the braking ability of the E60 and the effectiveness of the ABS in assisting to break and manouevre out of harm's way.after 10 - 15mins we went on to the next course which is my favourite out of all 4 which is autocrossing event ... Again the course was made up with cones ... Off the line we accelerate and do a short slalom course then do a 180 degrees turn then accelerate at the end of the runway where we do a quick right and left turn (lane changing) before doing another 180 degress turn on to a short left and right turn and bring a car to a stop. We did that for another 4-5 times .... I miss the lane changing that mr. Ivan shouted on the walkie talkie "you have so much adrenaline that your blood didn't reach your head arrr!!! " Wakakakakakaka :DAfter that we line -up behind another instructor car which is a beautiful E90 325i M-Sport for an acceleration drive outside the APAC centre unto the main road ... There we hit speeds up to 140-160 km/h and i must say the way the E60 soaks up the imperfection on the road was superb ... there was a pothole that i didn't manage to avoid but the the way the E60 absorbs the impact it's like it saying back to me " what pothole?" ... It's very comfortable highway cruiser i must say tho a bit lacking in power.there are two part of the final event which is a briefing on the correct driving position and a demo of the X5 intelligent 4 wheel drive system which is the X-drive.All in all an excellent, adrenaline filled fun event and it's all free :top::top::top: Big thanks to Sapura BMW and BMW M'sia for organising such an event  :top: and also thanks to the BMW driving instructors that was there today earlier in the morning- Mr. Ivan Kong, el-presidente Mr. Wong and few others (sorry can't remember their name),p/s: i'm still wearing a big smile ... lol :D

....was allocated the 530 for the accelaration test ...the gearshifts was awesome, on manual mode using the pedal shifters it was just like driving a manual..even better the gear changes was seamless...in no time was hitting 180kmh but was restricted by the Pace car infront to go faster...now feeling very heartsick bcos cant afford it just yet...:2: nevertheless it was another great event by BMW to make us want to buy their cars when we can afford them (in my case, that is)..and hats off to the instructors who had to suffer for us to enjoy.

The facelifted 530 LCI and also the 325 sports have paddle shifters. These cars come with a new transmission system that shifts down 50% faster and very little transmission loss as a result of a new torque converter that locks up below 1900RPM!!

The new BMWs really do handle very well, and yes I love to drive that 530 as well, perfect car with abundance of power, comfort and great handling :)

Cheers

thanks AlBundy and all for the great tips. I had great fun in the 9am event too. Shucks though as I couldn't beat my boss' time. hehe... we had fun in his car later (the e39 M5 6-speeder). tapaued the E60s on the highway. heheh..

I tried out the new seating position. It was odd at first and I still feel it's odd. Just need to get used to it. I do feel that cornering is much easier in this position but my foot position needs some adjusting as I tend to stomp on the brakes too much when I normally do a soft tap. Maybe because my foot/seat is too close to the pedal?

Lucky XXX got the 530.

JYazid, BC and I later had lunch in Kelana Jaya after hanging out til noon.

Nice to hear that all of you had a great time. I do have a great tan now for sure:love:

The E39 M5 with hartge exhaust sounds mean...*Slurp* Could hear it when I was conducting the class far away!!! :top::top:

Cheers

thanks Albundy on the tips. I do have a question, you mentioned tapping the brakes and then control power on the U-turn in the slalom, do you do this with left foot braking or with right foot braking? On the way back from Subang, I was thinking about this and wondered how to maintain some power while braking to avoid rev to drop drastically. I know I can do this on karting but when driving a car, I always find my left foot tends to "over" brake. :)

Anyway here's mine :D
