Guys, we have just topped up all the AE LED markers and D1s Xenon Light stocks @ our dealers Juzzforcars and 2277 workshop.
Do feel free to pop by Bimshop and our dealers if you need anything.
Just a quick update. We will be continuing to carry products for the older models such as E90 Pre-fl, E60 Pre-fl for as long as we can.
We understand the population for these models are slowly being phased out in SG given our 10yr COE but we will try our best to keep em mods available as much as we can.
Last nite trouble-shooting for customer's E90lci (halogen headlight AE).
Just a little something for sharing.
As per our post last nite, we were troubleshooting a customer's e90lci which was fitted was E90 Pre-fl AE LED Markers. Installation was done by a JB workshop and the lights were forcibly retrofitted.
The problems would be 1) The wrong type of AE LED markers is used and thus the resulting 2 errors: wrong fitment & incorrect wattage, resistance The owner experienced disco lights AE while driving and finally they died.
2) there were no proper connectors used. workshop used cut wires and attempt to connect to the wrong AE LED by means of blacktapes n cable ties.
3) with the fitment wrong, the workshop tried to retrofit it where the light was forced at an awkward angle. Hence, the ae rings were getting inadequate light and a possible high risk of damaging the optics.
Last nite trouble-shooting for customer's E90lci (halogen headlight AE) Part 2
Elaborating further, we have posted this pic to let you all understand what is the fault.lastly, Most of you would be wondering, "aint it all AE LED? why can't a e90 pre-fl fit a E90lci?"
1) as the headlights are already different in design, the positioning and depth of the optics would also differ. by using a AE LED markers that is not meant for the model a) the positioning would be wrong, light is not getting correctly or directly into the optics b)there would be light loss, ie not maximising the amount of light that could go into the AE rings c) the optics could be damaged, scratched by forcibly putting an ill fitting ae led markers which would be rubbing against it
2) with different models, the wattage, amperes, etc would be unique and different. By using a wrong AE LED marker, a) the car would be getting error messages b ) ae lights working intermittently c) premature spoilage of AE LED markers d) possible electrical shorting
3) lastly, by trying to retrofit with different metal plates and cable ties as holders etc, the installer runs a risk of damaging the screw threads where the original screws are supposed to be. upon damage, we might not be able to use that anymore, ie you can't screw anything in to secure the AE even if you had change to a new one.
in short, get an installer who knows what he is doing. if you see them doing funny stuff like the above-mentioned, its best to avoid using them so as to prevent any irreversible damage to your headlights.
Just sharing a post we came across on Bimmerpost. Not too sure abt the accuracy of the article n the coverage for Asia. But I guess it won't hurt to share. Perhaps you guys should check with your SA on this.
We will be posting in parts pics of the BMW Musuem Visit by our dear Bro Don Ko who specially shared with us while he is holidaying there. — at BMW Welt | BMW Museum.
