    surface preparation

the bodyshop removed most of the old paint, and left surfaces in rough condition. paintshop begins work by machine grinding every square inch with with a wire-brush attachment.

    Body Primer.. 2nd coat

another layer of body primer was applied after the first was puttied and sanded down. this next layer is also applied on the new doors and bonnet, which came primed from InnerPower.

after this second coat, the rubbing/sanding continues..

    Mizhan,

Looking at yr massive rebuilding of the E30 the car deserve better engine at least M50. Never mind if it takes longer time, money & effort, at least you'll be happy to keep it for long time.:top:

Agree with Mizhan, we should all have a show car that is factory specced and one bruiser that is only limited by your wallet...:)

    Rub-down of primed surface

rust issues aside, this procedure is the most critical towards the outcome of the painting exercise. here the surface is diligently sanded into a perfectly smooth surface. errors at this stage will be very apparent after car is painted.

once the body-primer covered surface is deemed smooth and problem-free, it'll be ready to receive the paint-primer.

no ejat.. he's wondering why his old man is crazy to spend so much time & effort on a car twice his age, instead of buying a 335i coupe.
