Yup, BMW engine are not suitable to use semi synthetic, with full synthetic shell helix ultra, it come with the pureplus technology, its really good for BMW engine.
advanced formulation for high performance engine, one of the benefits of pureplus technology are reduced oil consumption.

agree with that, with this high performance car, dont save the money of using semi synthetic engine oil, although its just around half price of full synthetic engine oil, just dont save it.
with full synthetic shell helix ultra, it let your engine go to performance level, bring you the better feeling of driving too...

:stupid: only thing that changes between semi-synth and full-synth is the service interval, especially for daily driving conditions.

Not true. A fully synthetic oil gives superior engine protection as it has better shear resistance, stays in grade better and has better "cling" abilities. Oil is not about better fuel efficiency or better performance, it is about engine protection. There are thousands of stories of people who have suffered engine issues caused by wrong or poor oil quality. When you think how much work the oil has to do in and engine it is not worth trying to save a few cents by using incorrect grade or semi-synthetic when fully synthetic is required.

yea, sorry my response was an over-simplification of the differences.

though i still think that we can be a bit of snobs when it comes to oils. Sure, oil weights matter , but if interval of oil change is short , you're likely to not find any difference in performance between semi and full when comparing establish brands , especially in daily driving conditions.
