Haywire is the main problem the airbags or is it overall...I can forego the airbags and I pray hard that I would never ever need it....but those pedal shifters are to die for....hmmmm come to think of it Im literally willing to die for the shifters by forgoing the airbags...:stupid:

There are 3 main connector here:
Paddleshif - haywire have the connector ready (as long as your e39 is shiftronic, it should work with slipring i provided)
Multifunction button - If current steering already hv this feature thn this one should be plug n play (it should work with slipring i provided)
    Airbag - as lional said

The problem is the fitting of the steering wheel to the column.

The older 1 stage steering wheel has the slip ring on the steering itself:

Slip ring behind the steering, its the black plastic part.

No slip ring on the column.

With the new dual-stage steering wheel, the slip ring is on the column:

    Nothing behind the steering wheel

Slip ring is on the column

So, in your case (you want the paddleshift working) you will definitely need the new slip ring on the column in order for it to work. In Lionel's case, I suspect he cut the back of the steering wheel to mount the old-type slip ring behind it.

    Still can not.

To my knowledge, only 2 ways to get it fit.

    1. Cut the steering wheel shaft (cheaper alternative).
    2. Change the steering colomn or can say whole steering system.

Even if the steering finally fit, the multifunction still a question mark. U have to dismantle the whole dashboard to run the cable. This is what i know when i try to fit the previous M steering to my e39. Dont know your e39 come with the ready cable or not, but mine definitely don't have.

Many PFL e39 owners (include oversea forum) are dreaming to fit the paddle shift multifunction dual system steering and maintain the proper functions in their car but none of them prove that this is workable and show the picture, all are talk cock only. Unless u are really ready to spend the money then there is a way when u want, Malaysia Boleh!
