Yes, car eye is optional BMW branded accessory.
Not sure why my reply didn't appear in the previous post in reply to jnc621. Anyway yes, car eye is optional BMW branded accessory.
Got back my car after Christmas and everything seems to be ok. Drove to KL and back with no issues.
However, the plastic on the central tunnel on the passenger side near the gear shift feels cool after a while with the air con on. Is this normal?
Btw, I asked then to check the low beam headlights and it seems that they were shooting a bit high out of the factory. Getting a lot less flashes from on-coming cars since they adjusted it.
Nice. What have been fixed? What caused such issues?
Just recently I have discovered "shocking" sound from the car after fully charged. Check out my recorded video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAYM_OxmC68
Some expert said is similar to i3. I read from http://bmwiforum.bmwusa.com/thread/246/preconditioning-faq
According to BMW, just needed to change the aircon discharge pipe. He said it was deformed. Not sure how it got that way. Since its pretty new, I assume it's an issue from the factory side.
Another issue over the weekend. Ran into a pothole on way back from Lumut. Front left tyre bloated and crack appeared on rear tyre. I stopped by a tyre shop to inspect. According to shop owner, a Merc suffered the same fate a couple days ago. Suggested to tow back to workshop for safety. Attributted it to the low profile tires.
If travelling on trunk roads, be careful. In this case, I was on highway A103 between Pantai Remis and Trong when I hit the pothole.
I do not notice my 330e making that type of sound when fully charged. Maybe should send the link to the BMW service guys for their assesment.
As commented from other owners around the world, this is normal sound where the car was performing preconditioning battery (warming) according to your departure time. So call thermal management. If you set to "charge immediately", you won't get this sound when fully charged.
Thanks for the info. Have not tried seting departure time as yet.
Hello and good morning everyone.
I'm a newbie here. Got my 330e a week ago and quite happy with it.
Just a few issues and hope to get some clarifications here.
1) There is a rattle sound in the back passenger door when driving on uneven road. Anybody experience this?
2) The front interior light should be blue at night upon unlocking the door however mine is white. How to set to blue light?
3) I need to purchase the EV cable in order for me to charge at the dedicated EV station. Where can i get it? Hope "mikjoe" can advice.
1) Yes. Few members actually encountered the sound. Some notice from the driver door, passenger door, the absorber sounds. So go back to SC to rectify it.
2) You can't set the blue light. There are few ways to lock/unlock the car. If using remote control probably is blue light. If touch on the door handle, probably is white light. So no worry.
3) There are few members doing group buy now. You can join the https://www.facebook.com/groups/1088861067927101/
Thank you jnc621.
Oh another confusion.
To start the car, we need to apply the paddle brake and push the start button. Sometimes the engine will start automatically but sometimes i need to press the accelerator paddle (after pressing the brake paddle) in order to get the engine started.
Appreciate anybody to explain on this.
Generally, apply brake and push the start button. The car will be in 'ready-to-drive' mode (look at the rpm meter). Unless the car has not enough electric power, then the car will trigger the engine to start. Or driver press harder on the accelerator paddle, then the engine will kick-in also.
Hi everyone. I'm a new member here and got my car mid of Jan.
I had the same rattling issues and mine was coming from the driver door window switches and also the rear driver side passenger handle/grab bar.
Sent it to SC and they have rectified the noise and said the grab handle needs to be changed but have to order from Germany
My model was built first week of Dec and came with Idrive 5.0. The thing I noticed is for models that came with the newer idrive(built Aug onwards I think), we can charge the battery in save battery mode up to 90% instead of 50%. The test drive unit I drove earlier had the older version of idrive and can only charge to 50%.
This makes a huge difference especially travelling outstation. I'm surprised BMW Msia didn't make an announcement to this change.
Just some additional info, fuel consumption varies quite a lot depending how many KM I travel/day.
For trips usually within 50km/day with maybe 50/50 highway, I can get about 20-25km/L. When I travelled less/day, highest I achieved was about 30km/L and 1,100km before I refuelled.
Outstation trips without charging facilities, will average about 15-16km/L with charging on the go every time I'm on the highway.
I live in a condo but I pulled cabling from the riser room to the pillar of my parking lot so I can charge every night.
Putting the charging rate to low, takes about 5-5.5 hours from 5% to full charge.
Putting to maximum, takes about 3-3.5 hours from 5% to full charge.
I also have the public charging cable and the chargEV card. Really useful since not many people do public charging now. Going to shopping malls I do not need to find parking hahaha. When everyone here starts to use the public charging facility more, don't go fighting for parking with me hahaha.
One of my main concern now is regarding the real time traffic information. It is activated in my idrive settings but on the map, it doesn't seem to show the live traffic. If it is working properly, it is supposed to show green/yellow/red on the roads with traffic. However, in both types of map display it doesn't show anything.
If I use the connected drive app on my phone, I can see the live traffic info when I use the destination search function.
Used the connected drive in-car and called support services, they asked me to bring it in to a SC.
If I can finally get real time traffic info to work, will compare it with Waze. Would much prefer to use the built in GPS due to the instructions also show on the HUD.
Will keep everyone updated on the real time traffic info issue.
Hope the info above is helpful and I look forward to meeting some of the members here in the near future!
Oh and just to add if anyone was wondering what is the costs involved for charging, can calculate fairly easily by the capacity of your battery.
E.g. 330e I think is about 6.2kw
X5 is about 9kw.
So on the highest tariff for residential of around RM0.52/kw, it costs about RM3-3.50/charge on the 330e.
Since I have a separate meter just for my charging socket in the car park, my monthly bill is around RM80-100. Sometimes on weekends mid day I get to charge a few extra hours haha,
Each full charge on average I can get about 25-30km. Say 25km/RM3, it's still cheaper than petrol
