I restored an 1800 in '77-78, not sure of the DoM could be 63-65. When I was in primary school, we all laughed and ran after the canteen owner's funny looking little car which had a door in the front and a tiny horizontally opposed aircooled engine in the back. The engine looked like a motocycle engine complete with cooling fins. It certainly sounded like one with its distinct toot toot toot sound. All the time I thought it was a Fiat. I now suspect that it was an Isetta. If it is then it certainly got to be one of the oldest BMW in Malaysia and certainly one of the rare cars in world. Wonder what happened to it.
Somebody told me there was a 3 door BMW up north, can't remember which model, like 502 or 202. Looks like bubble car type, I think. Or is it a one-door?
Isetta... I saw a convoy of German-registered ones in London. Must have been a real trip, if they drove all the way.
I heard from Mikoloh that his father used to have BMW 700, whcih sort of resembles an Isetta. Too bad no one has pictures of it. Mazin aka whl
There was one BMW700 near my house but unfortunately a few months back its gone don't know where I was not so keen as it was park alone the road all glasses gone body not bad but design wise looks like a Jap soft body with sharp edges rear engine 2 door never like the design, for the Isetta long ago in the 80s one good looking one park at a workshop at Jalan 222 or 223 PJ at the back of Kah Motors but not for sale as me and a Vintage kaki asking for the owner really sayang in the wrong hands but for me long ago involve in old cars enough lah had 2 at home not enough time to play with just keep in good shape run once in a while then park under garage cover up with blanket not to catch cool brother. :yahoo:
