Thank you Joshua It is sometimes difficult doing stuff without the right tools and needing to improvise. All about problem solving I guess... I’m just glad I’ve overcome some of the hurdles. Not there yet but surely progressing! Alas, I’m enjoying the little achievements and the learning. We’ll see what tomorrow brings
After completing the three harnesses yesterday evening and this morning’s work on preparing the harness attachment mounts, I was confident that the work can be completed and we’ll have a first crank by mid afternoon... unfortunately, this’ll have to wait for at least another two to three weeks As it turns out, the MQS pins to the DME that I bought and fitted to the harnesses, wasn’t to spec! Ordering these will take time to arrive, so if anyone of you have some spares laying around (I need 8 of these 0.35 to 0.5mm), do drop me a message. Or, if you know where I could get these locally, do let me know too. Much appreciated
Crossing off one item on a long to do list... Now that the engine work is completed, she is due for a good bath! Looking forward to cross these off the list next - wheels refurb - headliners refurb - air cond servicing - suspension install - BBK install - trunk lid install - and of course a new coat of paint Here’s a vid of the first cold start after the airbox install. Please excuse the rough idle engine sound
As mentioned in my earlier post, one of the things I’d like to have completed soon is the suspension install. While most garages will tell you that they can do almost any install, not many can do it well and some will even botch it up!!! I’m needing a recommendation for a good garage who knows what they are doing. One that you have personally experienced and would go again without hesitation. Note: Within the Klang Valley please. Thanking you in advance
After receiving a recommendation and setting an appointment, it was finally time to install the Öhlins!
The installation work was done at Berlin Autocraft in Sunway Damansara, a garage owned by a fellow member in BMWCM. My sincere thanks to the mechanics and foreman for doing a superb and professional job! And to the owner, the warm hospitality A couple of fellow members dropped by for an impromptu TT... thanks for the morning coffee bro!!!
Superb thread, loving the build more everyday! @BlackCat did you do some of the bushings while you had the suspension out?
Front and rear bushings, engine and gearbox mounts and some other stuff are on their way... together with rear differential bearings and seals. Still a fair bit of work to be done
Nevermind he loves spending time at the shop ogling the mistress as she is jacked up high and stripped ps - do invite us next time ya
Looking under the skirts can sometimes cost you an arm and a leg brooo!!! I Rear differential seals and bearings... engine and gearbox mounts... oh and don’t forget the bushes too!!! I mean the bushings...
