Hi All,
I am looking to get the Mazda RX8. Ideally, an auto, sunroof, 18 inch wheels, bodykit etc...

What do you think of the car? Daily driving ok? Maintennance?

Great car. Was eyeing for one earlier but a bit too 2F2F for me. Saw a '03 unreg auto in yellow color selling at somewhere OKR for under rm190+k.

I've not driven one yet, but an auto RX8? Plenty of flash but not enough performance for the money. Bet the handling's excellent though. Daily driving must be OK, but it will consume oil.

Energy, buy it la for the wifey.... Still young enough before the SUV and MPV stage.

RX8?

Compared to a bimmer....e46f has a point.....perhaps a tad 2F2F....

But i think its a stonking, dogs bollocks of a car! BUY IT!

Indeed - unlike the 350Z, it has rear seats (as well as rear doors). Nissan was kind of silly not include at least token seats behind. Sadly, many people cannot justify buying the car for this reason alone.

Whatever, its great to see more and more RX-8s on the roads nowadays.

In stock trim and certain factory colours, makes you look like a gay or a wuss. Make sure get the more muscular version with the kits and spoilers, and the right colour!

Just my personal opinion..........

I think it's got plenty of good looks and appeal among yuppie types. In the clubbing scene, I hear early 20-somethings talking about it all the time! From UK car reports, I understand it's a great drive too. However, for personal reasons I don't like the car anymore, hehe! Will tell eNerGy and E46F about it later.

There is only one "right" colour and combo...gun metal grey (just like the FD RS) and the MS kit / rims. NGAM!

Here's Racingbeat's alternative. Not bad indeed.

Nah! It's not a car-related problem, so it's something else. Tell you about it later too. hehe!

It's running on rotary engine, right? How competent are the mech nowadays in dealing with rotary engine cars? The last I heard, not many knows how to do it, most probably because there aren't many rotary engine cars around.

I was actually looking at the RX7 effini (prior to putting purchasing the current bimmer) but has absolutely no clue as to how rotary engines work, its fuel consumption (heard it drinks like a horse), maintenance, etc.

You RX8 fanatics out there, care to share your thoughts on these?

Someone he knows driving an RX8 must be either a gay & or a wuss, or a gay wuss, or JPB wishes he is a gay wuss........

Actually most reviews say that it's a good car, though not many would call it great. Perhaps the real RX7 replacement (2-door) will fare better?

Great replies! I am looking for a car for my wife. I wont be selling my E46 325ii. Just changed all 4 tires to CSC2s. I know the manual and auto are both different cars. But wife prefers an auto RX8 with sunroof.
I am trying to get the best deal, Sat Nav, bodykit, sunroof, etc... and below 200k.
Any ideas where should I go?

It's the third one, I WISH the owner is either gay or a wuss but.... and yes, there's an extremely beautiful gal involved in the scheme of things, hehe!

eNerGy, let's check out NAZA this weekend.

Hey Dudes,

Here's my 5 cents worth abouth the RX8. May not mean much, but what the hey.... My boss has a RX8. Really great car to drive, has enough power, looks really good as well. Now I have to agree that it was great that Mazda decided to compliment us with its very innovative suicide doors and what seems to be enough leg room for an average size person at the back, but how ever I had an opurtunity once to sit behind when we had to go fo a meeting and hey... if you're claustrophobic like me then.... BIG PROBLEM.... I had to get my boss to stop the car 10mins into the ride as I was starting to feel nauseous and my joints on my legs started to hurt even though I had enough leg room.

Also the car seems to be going fast but there does not seem to be any sort of grunt that you would expect from a sports car and the fuel.... well apparently my boss fills up for RM 75 and it gives her like 355kms or something like that.... not too sure lah... anyways Energy thats my experience with the RX8 hope you find the RX8 a less terrifying than me.. ha ha ha.....

Happy Shopping

Energy was told that the auto version gets ~160km for RM50 petrol only. Quite horrid man, but thats the price u pay. Roadtax should be quite low for the car I think.

Yikes! Better hope petrol prices don't go up anymore. Judging from crude oil prices, this is likely. I was told that naza got a nice selection of colours available with 2004 AP going for RM200K+.

Can you ask your boss again for the consumption? RM75 for 355kms, I can live with that but what I heard was rm50 for 160kms, I can't do that.
Your boss' rx8 is auto or manual?

Thanks

Sat in my friend's RX8 few months back..... nice but be sure to test drive first cause you can't see cars coming from your right rear ( blind spot )...... :P

It's design to go fast so no need to look at what's happen behind right............. :D
