One of the classics that I had time some time with was 2 versions of the 124 Sports (coupe). Great car, good memories. Almost bought the 2 big headlight AC version once. But had to give it up because I was nursing my MGB GT at that time. Dont see them on the road much these days. I saw one in fair condition in Ara Damansara.

There was an Arbath Spider seen in my company car park (probably owned by some pilot) some years ago. This one gives the Alfa Romeo Spider a good run in the looks department.

Saat,

OMG, OMG, OMG, I remember driving them in the 80's! Damn nice cars which have fantastic ride and handling, not to mention that little gem of an engine.

Somehow, I feel the 124 Sports can give the E30 318 a good rund for it money.

Say to say it is a rust bucket.

MY dad used to run a 500 with the suicide doors. I learnt to drive on that car.

I street raced a 124 saloon.

Ive always had athing for a 124 Sports though. My friends and I once drove one at high speed from Taunton to London and then on to Farnborough to see the airshow. Even had a blowout on the north circular road.

memories...

Damn didn't know you guys were into them as well...there's quite a handful of them in my area. some of them are in pristine condition, some fair.
i spotted one when i was at uni & quickly did some research on it.
if not for Fiats presence here & more parts availability, it would have been on my shopping list that also included the 206 GTI, Lancia & of course the 2002.
they still look stunning & definately a nice engine growl to them..

I remembered when I was in form 1, my science teacher (an Indian playboy or rather he thought he was one) had a white spitfire. He used to BS us about how fast he drove and overtake all other cars. giving us the impression that his spitfire was the fastest car on the road.

My college mate, an african, had a a gold colored V8 hatchback version in UK. I loved the sound of it made every time he drove by.

All I had to play with was a mini and later an alfa 1750.

Saat,
It was a running car I ever drive to Segamat, Kuantan up and down KL until I left it with a friend to work in Kuantan for 2 years saw my car not taken good care in a sad stage came back for good tow it back and now I am taking it easy strip off all the paint work to bare metal not primer yet then to the welder to touch up and paintshop to put back on the road I mis very much sitting on the floor driving it, bought it in 1979 in Kota Kinabalu its a 1965 model, was active in vintage cars at one time (Co founder of the Royal Malaysia Vintage & Classic car Club) now slow down semua macam dah tidur busy. I enjoyed doing thing myself if had all the time actually ada masa tapi banyak terbuang. When I pergi Kuantan I did'nt let go my house for rent as one more car I left it in the porch an Austin 1300 1973 model in super condition as the floor board still in original condition and even the seat, I spend alot on it lately running perfect and balik from Kuantan I make a garage for two cars for the old ladies at my garden. I bought the Austin just because of the condition of the floorboard and seat actually I love the mini ehh cukup lah no time to many to jaga. I will try to post the picture if I can ok. :yahoo:

My compliments, rezzy.

A very neat example of a 1300. I love these cars, they are indestructable and cheap to run and maintain. Other than the Mini 850/1000, the 1100 and 1300 were THE student cars in UK.

Can't help but chime in here with you folks with all those golden memories. My father also had a Fiat 600, but that didn't hold as much a memory as his Honda S600. 4 carbs and 12,000 rev limit. 64 bhp making it over 100 bhp per litre. Phenomenal even by today's standards. My first time steering a car was actually in this car, on my mother's lap!

My first UK wheels was a orange coloured Renault 12TS. OK it stuck out like a sore thumb. But the Recaros and Weber carbs really made it seem like there was no tomorrow. Sigh.... :)

That's a bit of an overstatements lah..

What I mean is that even with a rotten floor board where you can see the road, backside sagging like and old nag, doors misaligned or worse, only half left, wings are flapping, they still maneged to fit 5 students from Scotland to London and back. Hows that for keeping on going.
