But fabe's ..... a h27 in an e21!..... shouldnt he at least upgrade the brakes and suspension?

Anyway, the age of the car is a factor to consider. Perhaps instead of upgrading you should refurbish/replace those bits to make sure they are as close to 100% as possible.

Congrats on securing a H27 for yr ride. How does it perform?

You had better do it. If not, then I will call you a BLOODY FOOL!

Hope I am not too subtle.

As Pirelli catch phrase says, POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL

You could kill yourself and others in your path to destruction when you lose control.

The FIRST THINGS you must do BEFORE upgrading the engine are UPGRADE BRAKES AND SUSPENSION (INCLUDING ALL BUSHES, MOUNTINGS ETC)

There are many ways. You can probably fit almost any strut into the e21 with some modification (which could be major or minor). Ideally, find yourself an abandoned e21 3231, take the front struts and the rear trailing arms and disc brake assembly, refurbish and install.

You may have to replace the discs (RM120 - RM130 each, front and rear). Check that the caliper pistons are in good condition (i.e., not corroded/seized) and have them serviced. Alternatively, use Girling 4pot calipers from Volvo 240 (RM1000 a pair - brand new; al lot cheaper - used) Requires some modification.

Change your brake booster to the one from the e28 - minor knocking on tyre well and cutting and welding booster mounting.

Suspension - I like H&R. You could do a group buy with -berq-

People who have been in my car can tell you how my ride feels.

yup...ichi's ride feels better than my mother's e46 which is 20 yrs younger than the e46...
IMO,do make a list of option of what u want to do with ur car, then check with sifus bout ur options n then proceed with ur projects...if not,u will encounter a lot of probs along the way..

Before you put in the Hartge H27 engine you should, at minimum, have this:

Front

This is what it looks like mounted:

Don't think so, but I could be wrong. However, the e30 caliper will fit onto the e21 323i trailing arms with minor modification.

FYI, this is where I got the info about the Girling 4pot caliper upgrade for the e21.

Bimmerforums Caliper Upgrade Post (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3572374#post3572374)

In the write-up, they mention the e12 brake booster/servo. Unfortunately for RHD e21s, the servo is located just behind the RHS head lights. The LHD e21s had their brake booster on the LHS and right against the firewall. So, AFAIK, only the e28 servo may fit the RHD models.
