Mercedes Benz A160 : 1999/2000 RM99k -, classy & beautiful, clutchless semi-manual, selling cheap, can trade in, ...... an ad in MotorTrader.

Dont know much about this model but read about the new model .... nice. Surprised with the retained value of this A160, still quite high. My wife only likes cars like this .... small car & must have 4-doors, hatchback for practicality (can fold down seats to store things). Wife used to dislike the idea of buying 2nd hand cars till when i got my BMW.

For that price, better buy Jazz 1.5iDsi?? RM92k i think (maybe lower soon due to lower duties for CBU ASEAN cars ... this iDsi model is made-in-thailand) whilst V-TEC ones are from Japan. Jazz having some facelift model ... saw on the net. Not that we are changing cars now ... discussion & to get opinions only. TQ.

You will have a problem servicing the A160. The engine design is such that anytime you need a little more than an oil change you need to lift te engine out. Talk to some MB service / workshop people and you'll hear of their complaints on the A-class. Highly NOT recommended.

My wifey also likes the look of the A160.. something about roundish looking cute rides and women??!!

Anyway, the Jazz is all Thai CBU now.. Last Japan Vtec batch was sold out in Nov 04. From what I hear, its rumored to increase in price instead of decline for the next shipment.. Sigh.

really want the a-class eh? what about the 1.5jazz (get mugen kit and also like flash suggested), wald/toyota Ist, mitsubishi colt (mivec turbo) or.. the impul march? hehe.. all similar price range.. +- 15-20k.. moreover, the current a-class would look quite dated once the new version comes out soon..

The Jazz wud be a better candidate then the A160. My niece has a red one... fu yooo... lucky gal (mum bought for her).

Now, let's see, put in low profile chrome sports rims, tint it, change the exhaust... wud look more awesome. :lol:

bump into someone who just brought back his Y2K Merc A170 Cdi from England. Spent some RM35k for that incl customs duty, shipping cost etc. He commented it is not comfortable ride .... i reckon it is the short wheelbase factor. The interior looks too plastic for a premium brand.
