A friend (girl) is looking for a car to run around in.
Must be sporty, newish and an auto. In that order.
So that rules out an E30.
Around that kind of money, i figured a 2000 Putra.
Anybody have any other suggestions?
What shall i look out for, it's basically the same car from launch till now right? No new engine or face lift?
Any help, info or leads will be much appreciated.
Cheers.

The Putra auto is quite a gas guzzler... Does 0-100km/h in 11+ secs so its not much of a hot rod as well :)...
How about an older CIvic Hatch EK auto?
someone's gonna hit me for saying this but have u considered an italian? ;)
the fiat punto1 can be had for a bag of peanuts and loose change. high depreciation on italians means that u can get one dirt cheap (a club member recently bought one for as low as RM28K). its small, zippy (the GT is quite a terror at the track), and parts are relatively cheap. and the chicks seem to dig the looks, too. most punto drivers are female.
but u will need to give the car TLC, just like the older bimmers. with proper care - ie fixing stuff before they break - the car is quite reliable (yes yes, someone pls disagree with me on this :D ). at least no less than a proton.

Aren't EKs around Rm45k (I know you know the market better than I do, 'cos you used to have a JDM one)? I suppose a safe bet would be an unmolested (if there's such a thing) early Kah Motor 2 door.

So nobody thinks the Putra is a good buy?
Which Civic is this that everybody says to buy?
Is it the model thats before the one with the big head lights?
Anybody here have one for sale?
Am wary of Fiats la, i hear they can spontaneously combust!
Thanks for all the ideas and info.
Cheers.
